Aljameen Sterling vs. TJ Dillashaw is expected to join the UFC 279 agenda. Promotion is watching the UFC Bantamweight title fight between Sterling and Dillashaw in September. 10 cards, according to multiple reports.

Sterling vs. News was first reported by Dillashaw MMA junkie. Dillashaw manager Tiki Ghosn said ESPN That Dillashaw has agreed to this contest. This match is Dillashaw’s first UFC title fight in three years – a failed bid against Henry Cejudo for the UFC Flyweight Championship. This comes four years after he successfully defended the UFC Bantamweight title against bitter rival Cody Garbrand. For Sterling, UFC 279 offers a fresh look after two years of construction and back-to-back battles against Peter Yan.

Sterling (21-3) won the UFC Bantamweight Championship in a controversial manner at UFC 259. The legality of the blow was rarely debated. Sterling won the championship, however, leaving a bad taste with some people. Sterling overcame Yan with wrestling in the early rounds of his UFC 273 rematch and barely stopped in later frames to win a separate decision to retain the crown.

Dillashaw (17-4) defeated top contender Corey Sandhagan in a split decision last July, despite a 30-month dismissal. He suffered a knee injury in the fight that kept him out for almost a year. Dillashaw never lost the UFC Bantamweight Championship in Octagon. He left the ballot in 2019 after failing his drug test and was later suspended for two years.
