On July 30, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Juliana Pena has a chance to prove that her shock win over Amanda Nunes at UFC 269 was no fluke. The pair will rematch in the main event of UFC 277 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Nunes comes into the first bout on a 12-fight winning streak that includes victories over every woman who has won a UFC featherweight or bantamweight title. This run made her one of the best fighters in women’s MMA history. Pena was expected to be just another opponent in Nunes’ incredible march. Pena proved to be much more than just an opponent as he dominated Nunes before scoring a bare choke in the back of the second round.

In the co-main event, former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno will take on Kai Cara France for the 125-pound interim championship. Moreno lost the title via a close decision to Davison Figueredo in their trilogy bout in January. 1-1-1 has an even split between these three meetings. Meanwhile, Cara France has won three of her last four since taking on Moreno in 2019. The two sparred in a tight 15 minutes of action before Moreno earned a unanimous decision.

Elsewhere on the card, Texas native and heavyweight record holder Derrick Lewis is back in action. He welcomes the newest rising prospect to the division in a standout bout when he takes on Sergey Pavlovic. Lewis is rarely in a boring fight as his last five bouts have all ended by KO or TKO. Pavlovic, meanwhile, has won three in a row since dropping Alistair Overeem by TKO in his promotional debut.
