Firecrackers in a two-storey house here exploded on Tuesday afternoon, causing extensive damage to the house and leaving a woman still trapped under the debris, police said. Police said the house in Jehanabad area of the district belonged to Azeem Baig, who holds a firecracker license.
According to the police, Baig kept crackers in a warehouse far away from the populated area, yet kept a large quantity of them in his house. Police said the explosion occurred around 3.00 pm, and locals helped Beg’s two daughters to come out safely. A daughter is still trapped in the debris, he said, adding that police and fire brigades are doing rescue work.
