Reports that Tom Cruise will be leaving the Mission: Impossible franchise after the upcoming Dead Reckoning Part 1 and 2 made headlines recently. While the reports left fans worried and upset, the film’s director has now asked fans not to ‘believe every report’. In a recent interview, director Christopher McCorry was asked if Tom Cruise would be exiting the franchise. Although he did not confirm or deny the reports, he spoke about how not all published reports are true.
“Let me tell you, I’ve been working with Tom Cruise for 15 years and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been standing next to this guy, watching an episode and then trading on him the next day. I read. And none of what they describe is actually true,” the director was quoted as saying by Variety.

Undeterred, the seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible films will be released as Dead Reckoning – Part 1 and Dead Reckoning – Part 2 respectively. While part 1 will hit theaters on July 14, 2023, part two will release on June 28, 2024.
