An orange alert has been issued for August 1 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts of the state.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected in Kerala from Sunday to August 4, which has issued an orange alert in several districts for the next week.
For Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alerts in 10 of the state’s 14 districts and no alert in the remaining four.
An orange alert has been issued for August 1 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts of the state. Orange alert has been issued in 8 districts on August 2, August 12, August 3 and August 4 in 12 districts. According to the IMD District Rainfall Forecast issued for Kerala at 1 PM on Sunday.
A red alert indicates heavy to very heavy rainfall of more than 20 cm in 24 hours, while an orange alert means heavy rainfall of 6 cm to 20 cm. A yellow alert means heavy rainfall between 6 to 11 cm.
