2002 Gujarat riots case: Court denies bail to Teesta Setalvad, Sreekumar accused of ‘forging documents’
Activist Teesta Setalvad was on Saturday denied bail in the 2002 Gujarat riots case. Ahmedabad Sessions Court also refused to grant bail to former DGP PRB Sreekumar. Both were arrested for allegedly preparing documents to execute innocent people in the 2002 riots cases. Additional Principal Judge DD Thakur said the bail pleas of both have been rejected. Read more
Landslides block more than 250 roads, highways in Uttarakhand due to incessant rain
Incessant rain in various parts of Uttarakhand on Saturday led to landslides in hilly areas, blocking more than 250 roads, including national highways leading to Badrinath and Kedarnath temples. Six residential houses were also damaged in Dharchula, the state disaster control room said. However, there was no loss of life as the occupants of the houses had already been shifted to safer places. Read more

Public sector lender Bank of Baroda reported a 79.3% year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 2,168 crore for the quarter ended June 30. Net interest income (NII) rose 12% to Rs 8,838 crore in Q1 FY23. , the bank said in a regulatory filing on Saturday, July 30. Read more
