As per the figures released by the makers on Saturday, the film earned Rs 3.16 crore on the first day. Pippin had 1157 shows on its first day in Kerala.
The film depicts the investigation of a series of murders linked to past murders.
The crime thriller drama penned by RJ Shaan marks Gopi’s collaboration with popular filmmaker Joshi after almost a decade. Apart from Suresh Gopi, the film assembles a star cast of Kaneha, Neetha Pillai, Naila Usha, Gokul Suresh, Chandonath, Asha Sharath, Tiny Tom, and Vijay Raghavan in prominent roles.
Suresh Gopi Abraham plays Matthew Mathew, a retired police officer, while Neeta, who was last seen in The Kung Fu Master, plays his daughter Vinci Mathew. Naila Usha is playing the female lead in the new Malayalam movie. Papin has Gokul Suresh sharing the screen with his father Suresh Gopi for the first time.
Suresh Gopi and Joshi have previously acted in super hit films like Lilam, Pathram and Awaznoor. Prior to Papin, they worked together in the 2014 film Salman Kashmir, which flopped at the box office. The film is a follow-up to Papan Joshi’s Porenjo Maryam Jose, which starred Jojo George and Naila.
David Cachappli bankrolled Poppin, who also backed Porrinjo. Ajay David Kachapalli, who handled Poronju’s camera, also shot Papin. Jacques Bejoy provided the film’s background score, while Shyam Sasidharan handled the editing.
