Joshna Chinappa and Saurav Ghosal made it to the round of 16 in the women’s and men’s singles respectively at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
India’s squash players Joshna Chinappa and Saurav Ghosal advanced to the round of 16 at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday after easy wins in their respective women’s and men’s singles matches.
Both Chinnappa and Ghosal, who are in the hunt for a CWG gold medal in singles, secured identical 3-0 victories in the round of 32 matches.
Living up to her billing, Chanpa outlasted Megan Best of Barbados. Chinpa, the 18-time national champion, won in straight sets (11-8, 11-9, 12-10).

He won the first two sets without any upsets, but Best made a strong comeback in the third set. However, Chenpa held his nerve to emerge victorious.
The 35-year-old Ghosal defeated Sri Lankan Shamail Vakil 11-4, 11-4, 11-6.
Ghosal was in complete control from the start and Sri Lanka were no match for India.
