At the India Couture Week organized by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), Dolly J showcased a breathtaking collection, Meraki. The evening kicked off with a jazz musician and models walking the ramp in a typical jazz style. The team went into the smallest details to create a jazz club atmosphere and create woody scents with different notes, for example cracked leather. The concept revolves around a certain fluidity that exists with serenity.
A message of that particular silence that brings about a monumental change: a metamorphosis. This collection is inspired by tranquility which is the foundation of growth and development. With this outing, the designer pays homage to an era of introspection that is central to transformation, highlighting beautiful motifs and embellished shifts in golden hues, fluid textures and dramatic cascades.
The dresses showcased the designer’s signature feminine sensibility with a glamorous edge. From body sculpting sarees to serene champagne gowns, dusty pink, powder lilac and shimmering gold, this collection is a celebration of our rich Indian culture and heritage.
Shilpa Shetty Kundra was the showstopper and wowed the audience in her glamorous avatar in a beautiful gown with perfect sparkle and tulle, pulling out lipstick from her dress pocket and applying it on the ramp. “I loved the collection, Meraki. My dress is an absolutely beautiful creation, the construction is very intricate, as the back and front are literally sewn together. It is quite heavy with embellishment and tulle. Any bride would be comfortable in it. “She will feel beautiful,” said the actor.
On a lighter note, she added, “The USP of this outfit is the pocket. It’s one thing I really miss in my reception dress because I wanted to have a powder puff but I couldn’t. So , I really wanted to show the patrons what Jeb could really do and I took the lipstick and put it on the ramp. It was a moment.”
The actor further opines that usually when an actor walks the ramp, they walk and then go backstage, but it is important to point out how useful pockets are in clothing, especially for women. .
The actress has tripped the ramp about three times, she says, “It was velvet. For the trials, I wore three-inch heels, and today I chose to wear two-and-a-half-inch heels, so I walked about three times. I went over my heels, that’s how I had to travel but that’s life.”
The designer has used molten gold color in metallic fabric in his collection. Designer feels apart from red for the bride, a touch of gold and silver should be a must. The designer wanted to create a lifetime experience for his patrons. “I’m humbled that FDCI gave us this opportunity and we put our heart and soul into this collection. Not just clothes, we wanted to create an experience for our patrons. And I hope people enjoy the show. Enjoyed,” Dolly J.
