Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik won the women’s freestyle 62kg event at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 on Friday. She defeated Anna Godinez Gonzalez of Canada in the final.

The 29-year-old beat England’s Kelsey Barnes 10-0 by technical advantage in the quarter-finals and then defeated Cameroon’s Bert Emilion Etienne Ngoule 10-0 by technical advantage in the semi-finals.

Earlier on Friday, wrestling matches at Coventry’s Victoria Park Arena were called off due to safety concerns.
