The scheme is aimed at orphans below 21 years of age in case of sons or unmarried daughters.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday approved to increase the monthly financial assistance of orphans of ex-servicemen from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000. This financial assistance scheme is run by the Kendriya Sanak Board (KSB) and is funded by the Raksha Mantri Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare Fund.

“Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved to increase the financial assistance given to orphans of ex-servicemen from Rs 1,000 per month to Rs 3,000 per month,” the defense ministry said in a statement. “This will enable the orphans to live a better life with dignity and respect,” he said.

The scheme is aimed at orphans below 21 years of age in case of sons or unmarried daughters. Applications for availing the benefits under this scheme are recommended by the concerned Zilla Senk Board.
