Polio vaccination team attacked in Pakistan, 3 killed

Anti-Polio Vaccination Team: Unidentified gunmen attacked a Pakistan-bound polio vaccination team, killing three people. The attack took place on Tuesday in Pakistan’s North Waziristan district. For information, let us say that this area is close to the border of Afghanistan. Two policemen and a health worker were killed in the attack. These people went to give polio medicine to the children.

The district, which borders Afghanistan, has reported nine cases of polio this year, after which a team is going door-to-door in connection with the vaccination campaign. Gunmen then attacked the team, killing one member of the team and two policemen guarding them. Police have launched an investigation into the matter. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Attacks on the polio team that have taken place in the past.

In March this year, gunmen shot and killed a female polio worker in northwestern Pakistan. She was returning home after participating in the anti-polio campaign. In January last year, gunmen shot dead a police officer guarding a team of polio vaccinators in northwestern Pakistan.
