Over 19,800 coronavirus infections, 53 deaths in 24 hours

Active cases account for 0.31% of total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.50%.

With 19,893 new coronavirus infections reported in a single day, the total number of COVID-19 cases in India rose to 4,40,87,037, according to Union Health Ministry data on Thursday, while active cases reduced to 1,36,478. With 53 new deaths, the death toll reached 5,26,530, the data updated at 8 am.

Active cases account for 0.31 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.50 percent, the ministry said. A decrease of 579 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload during 24 hours. The number of COVID-19 cases in India crossed 2 million on 7 August 2020, 3 million on 23 August, 4 million on 5 September and 5 million on 16 September.

It crossed 6 million on 28 September, 7 million on 11 October, 8 million on 29 October, 9 million on 20 November and 1 crore on 19 December. On May 4, the country crossed the critical milestone of two crores. And three crore on June 23 last year. It crossed the four crore mark on January 25 this year.
