In a terrifying encounter, a woman found 18 scorpions in her suitcase after returning home from a holiday in Croatia.

The woman returned from vacation to her hometown in Netternbach, Austria, and upon opening her suitcase, found a family of scorpions in her bag, including a mother and her cubs. NDTV Reported

“This afternoon we were contacted by a woman from Natternbach because blind travelers sat in their luggage on their trip to Croatia,” Tierhilfe Gusental, an animal rescue service, wrote on Facebook.

The animal was rescued and handed over to them, the rescue service said, adding that “they are currently at the animal shelter in Linz until they start their return journey.”

Animal control has taken possession of the scorpion family and the insects will be returned to their home country of Croatia.

An animal control staffer said the family could grow, however, it doesn’t belong here.

This is the third time that scorpions have arrived in Austria from Croatia. Last month, a woman in Croatia got the bug after a vacation.
