New Indian credit line to help Sri Lankan PM buy fuel for another 4 months

Sri Lanka Economic Crisis: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Tuesday that the new loan facility provided by the Indian government would help the country buy fuel for another four months from July. At the same time, a consignment of 3500 tons of LPG has also reached Sri Lanka.

The gas from this consignment will be supplied to hospitals, hotels etc. According to the News First website, Vikrama Singh said that LPG will be available for four months in the next batch. It will take us 14 days to receive this consignment. The Prime Minister said that we will ensure that the supply of fuel remains constant. However, it will only be able to meet 50% of our current demand. Vikram Singh said that priority would be given to power generation, transport and other essential services.

When will flights between India and Sri Lanka start?
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Tuesday announced the resumption of flights from Jaffna to India soon. He has asked his tourism department to come up with a plan to attract more Indian tourists.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority says it intends to attract 800,000 tourists for the rest of 2022. Prime Minister Vikram Singh has directed to resume flights to Indian destinations from Jaffna’s Palali Airport to facilitate travel.

Most tourists from India come to Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan cabinet discussed this during a meeting with the industry. In the month of May, 5,562 tourists from India came here and in this respect, India remained at the top position. At the same time, more than 3,723 tourists came from the UK. However, the total number of international tourists visiting Sri Lanka in May dropped by about 52% compared to April and 72% compared to March.
