More than 1,000 Chinese nationals in Islamabad will have to inform the police about their movements.

Chinese citizens in Pakistan: More than a thousand Chinese nationals living in Islamabad will have to inform the police about their movements. This claim was made in a media report. The decision was made in view of the growing number of attacks targeting Chinese nationals in Pakistan.

According to the Dawn newspaper, this was stated by the Islamabad Police during a meeting held to review the performance of the recently formed District Foreign Security Cell for the protection of foreigners, especially Chinese nationals. He quoted Islamabad police officials as saying that a survey report detailing Chinese nationals living in Islamabad was shared at the meeting.

Chinese citizens involved in companies, businesses, projects
Officials say more than 1,000 Chinese citizens in the federal capital are involved in more than three dozen projects, companies and businesses. He said security forces and paramilitary forces have provided security cover to Chinese nationals involved in the multi-million dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Officials said the meeting decided that either police SHOs, security divisions or patrol units would provide security cover to more than 1,000 Chinese nationals during their movement. The SHO was also tasked with collecting their details, officials said. The SHO will ensure the deployment of patrol personnel around the residences of Chinese nationals and check and verify the details of security guards.

Cameras will be installed in the homes of Chinese citizens.
Officials said CCTV cameras would be installed in the homes of Chinese nationals as well as on the roads leading to their homes. Officials said DIG Operations was asked to visit residential areas where Chinese nationals reside and prepare a security audit report to identify security flaws. He said that a desk is also being set up at Safe City and Police Facility. The meeting was called in the wake of growing attacks on Chinese nationals in the country.

Chinese nationals were attacked on April 26.
On April 26, three Chinese teachers were killed when a Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) burqa-clad female suicide bomber struck a Confucius Institute shuttle van at Karachi University in Pakistan.

The separatist BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army-BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack. Opposing Chinese investment in Pakistan’s resource-rich province of Balochistan, the BLA said it did not benefit the local people. Like the Pakistani Taliban, the BLA has targeted Chinese nationals on several occasions. Let me tell you that China is involved in big infrastructure projects all over Pakistan including Balochistan province.
