Karan Johar calls Karthik Aaryan’s Bhol Bholiya 2 a ‘good film’ and calls it ‘rubbish’ to buck the Bollywood trend.

Filmmaker Karan Johar has termed the claims of Bollywood being ‘dead’ as ‘rubbish’ and ‘nonsense’. Karan, who is donning the director’s hat after a break for Rocky and Rani’s love story, said in a recent interview that while ensuring the number of viewers in theaters has become a challenge, good films always box. She works in the office.

Speaking to PTI, Karan Johar said, “It is all nonsense and nonsense. Good movies will always work. Gangubai Kathiwadi and Bhol Bholiya 2 have done a lot. We have also done numbers on ‘Jag Jag Jive’. Films that are not good never work and never work. Jag Jag Jeev, starring Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani, was produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and managed to earn over Rs 84 crore after its release last month.

Karan also said that he is optimistic about upcoming Bollywood films, some of which will be headlined by superstars Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan. He added, “Now we have many big films coming up. We have ‘Lal Singh Chadha’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Brahmastra’, then Rohit Shetty’s film and finally we are closing the year with Salman Khan’s film. There is a lot to look forward to. We have all the love, we just need to create the right material to make it.

He is also ready to take up the challenge of attracting audiences back to theatres. He added, “Getting audiences inside the cinema hall is no longer easy. You have to make sure your film, trailer, campaign is exciting to get those numbers. You live up to your reputation.” Is it stressful? Maybe. But it’s more of a challenge and I like taking challenges.

Karan Johar is currently hosting the seventh season of his chat show, Koffee With Karan.
