The InterGlobe Foundation (IGF) today launched the InterGlobe HERITAGE Fellowships. Through these fellowships, InterGlobe Foundation aspires to encourage a community of researchers, journalists, architects, and others to bring to light previously undocumented aspects of Indian culture and create awareness about our heritage. Fellowships are available to students and liberal arts faculty, researchers, journalists, architects, or freelancers. Preference will be given to those having prior professional or academic exposure to the subject. The application deadline for the fellowship is August 31. A jury will select four applicants for the program, and the fellowship will last for three months beginning November 1. Students can apply at interglobe.com.

The fellowships will focus on presenting a comprehensive vision for the preservation of lesser-known aspects of Indian heritage, communities and practices. It will encourage new perspectives on India’s heritage, amplify local voices and contexts to help understand heritage-driven development, and show how community development in a particular region Actions and tangible and intangible heritage are interlinked.
The work done during the program will help bring out innovative ideas for the restoration of heritage landmarks and will be judged by a distinguished jury comprising of Swapna Lidal (History), Ritesh Nanda (Conservation Architect, CEO ( India), Aga Khan Trust for Culture. ), Vaibhav Chauhan (CEO, Clutter) and Rohini Bhatia (Chairperson, InterGlobe Foundation).
Since 2014, InterGlobe Foundation has been partnering with NGOs. Some of the heritage restoration projects include scoping, conservation and cultural revitalization of Abdul Rahim Khan-I-Khanan’s shrine in Delhi, cultural mapping and documentation of ten Indian cities. Renovation of Sutila “Indra Kund” at Dilwara; and research on Qutb Shah’s Mausoleum in Hyderabad and Lal Bagh Palace in Indore. The InterGlobe Heritage Fellowships are a step towards further strengthening the Foundation’s heritage conservation work.
