India’s covid graph going up? Cases in July were higher than in the March-June period, while deaths also increased, health ministry data showed

Even as India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 205 crore doses, the graph of monthly cases and deaths continues to trend upwards, with July recording the highest number of deaths in at least the last two months and Cases were reported.

Moreover, the total number of cases reported in July was higher than the total number of cases reported between March and June, official data analyzed by CNN-News18 showed.

In July, India recorded 1,241 Covid deaths and 5.67 lakh cases, according to data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total number of deaths reported in July was almost equal to the number of deaths reported during May and June.

In May, India reported 827 Covid-related deaths, which fell to 486 in June.

The year began with an outbreak of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus in India. The first two months, January and February, reported more than 10,000 deaths.

Monthly deaths began to decline in March, when about 7,300 deaths were recorded. It fell further to 2,674 in April.

Similarly, the monthly cases in January were more than 64 lakh. In February it came down to 16.21 lakh and in March it was a little over one lakh.

Less than one lakh cases were reported in the country in April and May. However, in June, the monthly cases reached almost three lakh.

On Friday, India reported 20,551 coronavirus cases and 70 deaths. So far 5.26 lakh deaths and 4.41 crore cases have been reported in the country.

There are 1.35 lakh active cases.

According to the ministry, under the nationwide vaccination campaign, India’s overall Covid vaccination coverage has crossed 205.59 crore, including 10 crore preventive doses.
