Indian para-athlete Bhavina Patel reaches TT final, medal assured

India’s Bhavina Patel assured herself of a medal at the Commonwealth Games here on Friday by reaching the women’s singles Class 3-5 Para table tennis final. The Tokyo Paralympics silver medalist defeated England’s Sue Bailey 11-6 11-6 11-6 to reach her final.

The 35-year-old Gujarat paddler will take on Nigeria’s Christiana Akpiui in the final on Saturday. On the other hand, Sonal Ben Patel defeated Akpioi 11-8 6-11 4-11 7-11. He will now face Bailey in the bronze medal match. Raj Arundan Algarh also lost in the men’s 3-5 class semi-finals to Nigeria’s Nasiro Sule 11-7 8-11 4-11 7-11.

He will now cross swords with Nigeria’s Isau Ogunkunle in the bronze medal play-off on Sunday.
