A police sub-inspector (SI) in Bihar’s Begusarai district was suspended on Saturday after a video of him dragging a man’s body with a rope to a hospital for post-mortem went viral, officials said. was seen, officials said, and outrage spread. Sub-Inspector Anil Kumar Singh was asked to investigate the matter and take the body for post-mortem. He engaged two sanitation workers who dragged the body with a rope to Begusarai Sadar Hospital for post-mortem,” said Superintendent of Police Yogendra Kumar. Kumar said it was an inhumane act and a police officer should not be allowed to handle a dead body in such a manner, adding that Singh had been suspended. The entire incident was caught on camera and the video, which showed the body being dragged by the legs with a rope, went viral on social media, police said.
He said that it raised questions on the sensitivity of the police. Police further said that the investigation also revealed that the dead body was dragged with a rope tied around its legs even while it was being shifted to the mortuary.
