Ghanaian boxer Shukul Samad has been suspended by Commonwealth Games chiefs after failing a dope test on the first day of sporting action in Birmingham.
The 23-year-old light heavyweight was scheduled to face Mauritius’ Luc Jean Rosalba in the first round of their bout.

“The Commonwealth Games Federation Anti-Doping and Medical Commission has confirmed that Ghanaian boxer Shakool Samad’s sample violated anti-doping rules for the 2022 Commonwealth Games,” the CGF statement read. .
“One of his samples was found to contain a banned substance (diuretic and masking agent – furosemide).
“Therefore, they have been suspended with immediate effect. He and the Ghana Commonwealth Games Association have been informed.
Samid, who competed in the Tokyo Olympics, may choose to have his B sample tested before any charges are issued.
