From huge sums to joint ventures, here’s what we know so far.

Ever since the Enforcement Directorate (ED) started probing the SSC scam allegedly involving former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee, a new revelation has emerged every day. Arpita’s accessories, ranging from huge amounts of money, foreign currency and expensive phones, have created curiosity among people.

Another layer of this incident is the suspicious business between Partha and Arpita. On Wednesday, the ED official seized a partnership document named ‘Apa Utility Services’ in which the two arrested accused share 50%.

Along with the flat and the money, Arpita is also a pet lover with nine dogs in one of three flats in the Diamond City area. He has fostered dogs like Great Danes, German Shepherds, Huskies, Labradors and Cocker Spaniels. ‘Voice for the Voiceless’, an organization that cares for homeless pets, has written to the ED seeking custody of all the dogs kept in Arpita’s flat as the caretaker of the dogs The deal expires on August 15.

Meanwhile, following Tuesday’s incident where a shoe was thrown at Partha’s car at ESI premises in Thakurpokar, security was tightened on Wednesday. Today when Partha and Arpita were taken from the CGO complex to the hospital, the security personnel were strict.

Even before Partha and Arpita were admitted to the hospital, the road leading to the hospital’s emergency room was blocked. The hospital authorities made the patients and the patient’s relatives queue up on a side of the road to see the doctor at the ESI and barred them from entering the emergency wing. Meanwhile, the police shifted the person who suffered a heart attack from the emergency room to the hospital restaurant. The ticket counter for seeing a doctor in the hospital was closed yesterday due to the police order.
