Four women were killed by lightning in a village in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district on Saturday after being struck by lightning during heavy rain, an official said. Sub-divisional officer Subhash Shinde said that the incident took place at Wahgaon village of Wara tehsil at around 4 pm. He said the victims were working in a field when heavy rain started and they took shelter under a tree.
Heravatizade (40), Parvata Rameshzade (65), Madhumatizade (20) and Reena Gajabhi (20) were struck by lightning and died on the spot, the official said. Varvara police station officials and local officials rushed to the spot for inspection, saying immediate financial assistance would be given to the families of the dead women.
