A former “Riverdale” actor who confessed to killing his mother also wanted to assassinate Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, it was revealed in court.
Ryan Grantham – who played teenager Jeffrey Augustine on the hit CW show – shot dead his mother Barbara Waite in the back of the head while playing the piano at her home in British Columbia on March 31, 2020. Pleaded guilty.
During his sentencing hearing Monday, prosecutors said Grantham then loaded his car with three rifles, ammunition, 12 Molotov cocktails, camping equipment and a sheet containing the instructions to the Rayudo Cottage where Trudeau Ottawa was located. Living in, CBC News Reported
The report said Grantham, 24, mentioned his plans to assassinate the Liberal Party leader in statements to authorities and from a private magazine read in court.
But he drove east just hours before turning around with the idea of killing people at Vancouver’s Lions Gate Bridge or at the university where he was a student.
He eventually went to Vancouver Police Headquarters, contacted an officer in the police car and said, “I killed my mother.”
In addition to his supporting role in “Riversdale”, “Archie” appeared in a show based on the comic book series, Grantham TV’s “Supernatural” and the movie “Dairy of a Wimpy Kid”.

According to the CBC, in the months before his mother’s murder, the court heard that Grantham felt frustrated and wanted to use violence. He even considered suicide with feelings of anger and anxiety over the perceived failures.
On one occasion, he secretly went to his mother with a gun and described the crime. CBC News reported.
Further footage shows his mother’s body with him, “I shot him in the back of the head. In the next few moments, he will know that it is me.”
In her March 31 journal entry, she wrote, “I’m so sorry mom, I’m so sorry Lisa; I hate myself.”
According to police, after the shooting, he went out to collect money, grass and beer, and then experimented with making Molotov cocktails, covering his mother’s body with a sheet and watching Netflix before going to bed.
Before leaving the British Columbia Town House the next day, he hung a rosary on his piano and lit candles around the body of the 64-year-old man.
CBC News reported that White’s body was found by his daughter Lisa Grantham later that day when her mother did not return text and phone calls.
“How can I trust anyone when my only sister chose to hang my mother when her back was turned,” he said during the hearing.
Grantham pleaded guilty to murder in the BC Supreme Court on March 9. He faces life in prison.
