Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk on Sunday tweeted Pakistan’s most popular meme mocking the US government’s policy on weed.

The meme featured famous Pakistani cricket fan, Saram Akhtar, whose disappointed look went viral after Asif Ali dropped the catch during the Pakistan vs Australia ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 match. Later, Saram’s picture became fodder for meme makers.

The tweet captured the dismay on the faces of weed users in America when they are put behind bars.

“People in America are in jail for weed while the government trades a Russian war criminal to jail a women’s basketball player for weed”.

Alvin wrote in his tweet: “Maybe some of the people in jail for weed should be released here too?”

The meme was about US Women’s National Basketball Association (NBA) star Brittany Griner, who was allegedly found in her luggage at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on February 17 with vape cartridges containing marijuana oil. He was arrested after that.

He is currently under trial in a Russian court.

Days earlier, the Biden administration had offered Russia a deal to extradite Griner and another jailed American, former U.S. Marine Paul Whalen. While the details of the deal remain unclear, Russia has reportedly expressed interest in freeing the two Americans, including Viktor Bot, a Russian arms dealer who is serving a 25-year sentence in a US prison.
