Fuel prices are one of the biggest worries of the common man as even a slight fluctuation in petrol and diesel prices can upset the entire household budget. As the fuel prices increase, the fares of public transport like auto-rickshaws and cabs also go up marginally, causing panic among common commuters. Fuel prices in India depend on a dynamic fuel pricing system that changes on a regular basis. Hence fuel rates are revised daily. In India, fuel prices in major cities remained stable for more than two months on August 1. Ever since Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Centre’s decision to reduce excise duty on fuel, petrol prices have remained steady. and diesel. On May 21, the Center took a decision in favor of the common man and reduced the price of petrol by Rs 8 per liter and diesel by Rs 6 per liter in the country.
Not only this, several state governments including Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Rajasthan have also given relief to citizens by reducing state taxes in their respective states following the Centre’s decision. However, even after a modest reduction in fuel prices, fuel prices are still very high in many Indian states.
