Ever since Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Centre’s decision to reduce excise duty on fuel, petrol prices have remained steady. and diesel. On May 21, the Center took a decision in favor of the common man and reduced the price of petrol by Rs 8 per liter and diesel by Rs 6 per liter in the country.

Not only this, several state governments including Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Rajasthan have also given relief to citizens by reducing state taxes in their respective states following the Centre’s decision. However, even after a modest reduction in fuel prices, fuel prices are still very high in many Indian states.

While petrol and diesel are selling at Rs 96.72 per liter and Rs 89.62 per liter respectively in Delhi, petrol is selling at Rs 106.31 per liter and diesel at Rs 94.27 per liter in Mumbai. In Kolkata, the second largest city, petrol is priced at Rs 106.03 per liter and diesel at Rs 92.76 per litre. Despite the double dip, petrol is still priced at Rs 102.63 per liter in Chennai and diesel at Rs 94.24 per liter in the state.
