Jamshedpur FC have added to their midfield by completing the signing of Brazilian midfielder Wellington Priori. The 6ft 3in midfielder was part of the Red Mines’ inaugural heroics in the Indian Super League (ISL) season and returned to the Furnace after four seasons.

After playing in Brazil, Thailand and South Korea, Priory signed with North East United of the Hero ISL in 2016 followed by a stint at Ferns.

Priori made quite a name for himself by scoring spectacular goals in the colors of the Red Miners. He scored a stunning overhead bicycle kick against North East United and a stunning volley against Chennaiyin FC. His addition in the January transfer window saw the club almost reach the play-offs with a much-improved second half of the league.

The Brazilian was delighted to be back at Jamshedpur FC where he enjoyed many memorable moments.

“I’m coming back home to where I belong. The time I spent with the club was amazing, and I’m delighted to be playing again in front of the loyal and enthusiastic fans of Jamshedpur. Working with Aidy Boothroyd Karna, who has a lot of experience, will definitely help us succeed as a team. I will work hard with my teammates to win more silverware for Jamshedpur,” he said. .

Coach Eddie Boothroyd was delighted with Wellington’s signing and said, “Wellington has all the qualities you look for in a midfielder – he’s technical, good on the ball, scores goals, and has experience playing in the ISL. He is coming home, has played for the club before and will help them hit the ground running.

Wellington Priory will wear the No.5 jersey and join the squad in Jamshedpur for pre-season in mid-August.
