Bajaj Auto on Tuesday said it is exploring a platform for premium electric motorcycles with its Austrian premium bike partner KTM. The company also said that it is taking a balanced and calibrated approach to the geographical expansion of its Chetak e-scooter.
“We are also in talks with KTM (and) a joint venture is underway where we will develop high-end electric motorcycles. Looking for a platform for.” Media briefing. “The project is definitely on our radar screen, and it will be announced at the right time,” Sharma said.
On the Chetak electric scooter, he said volumes are expected to improve compared to the first quarter, which saw 6,200 units shipped against 300 units in the March quarter last fiscal. Hopefully, it will be double or close to double Q1, depending on supply chain visibility.

“Unlike a business that is already running, we are very careful in measuring the expansion of our geographic footprint,” he said. He said that at present the total booking of the vehicle is more than 16,000.
The e-Chetak is currently available in 27 cities which Bajaj Auto plans to take to 100 cities, according to him. He said that the festive season last year was satisfactory and inflation is expected to remain unchanged this year.
