A young man in Agra jumped into the Yamuna after failing to get a government job.

The youth’s body has not yet been found and police are searching for him in Yamuna with the help of divers.

A youth allegedly jumped into the Yamuna river after failing to get a government job, police said on Monday. In a note left by Karmavir Singh on his WhatsApp status before he jumped into the Yamuna on Sunday night, he allegedly wrote that he could not get a government job, hence committing suicide, police said.

Inspector Vijay Vikram Singh, Station House Officer of New Agra Police Station, said that Karmavir, a resident of Nagla Talfi, had also been preparing for army recruitment for a long time. He said that the youth are worried about not getting government jobs.

The SHO said the body of the youth has not been found yet and police are searching for it in Yamuna with the help of divers. Although his mobile and slippers have been recovered, the SHO added.
