We’re halfway through the year and the UFC has seen incredible action in the first half of 2022. The promotion saw champions unexpectedly retain their titles, massive upsets and more drama than usual among their star athletes.
International Fight Week saw City Kickboxing continue its dominance with Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovsky rejecting title challengers. Adesanya outlasted Jared Cannonier while Volkanovski beat Max Holloway in their third meeting. Also, Amanda Nunes regained her throne atop the bantamweight division when she soundly defeated Juliana Pena.
Now, the calendar turns to August and some incredible matchups. First, the light heavyweights take the spotlight when former title challenger Thiago Santos returns to take on rising contender Jamahill Hill on August. 6. Next, the bantamweights got some shine when Marlon Vieira took on former champion Dominick Cruz in San Diego on August. 13. And the welterweight crown is on the line as Kamaru Usman looks to maintain his dominance against Leon Edwards at UFC 278 in Salt Lake City in August. 20
